- Paper Route Ledger (PRL) is provided with an installation utility, which
- will not only install the program for you, but will also test your system
- for the necessary free hard drive space and minimum DOS version. It will
- also check your CONFIG.SYS file for necessary parameters, and will even
- update those settings for you if necessary (you can also choose not to let
- it do this if you wish). It will also add the PRL subdirectory to your
- system PATH statement if you want.
-
- If PRL was down loaded from a computer bulletin board or other electronic
- service, it will most likely be compressed and placed in a .ZIP, .ARC, or
- similar file. Place the compressed file in a temporary subdirectory on your
- hard disk drive, other than the root directory. Decompress the downloaded
- file using the appropriate procedures for your system. Then, simply change
- to the temporary subdirectory, type INSTALL, and press [ENTER].
-
- (On some machines the [ENTER] key may also be labeled [RETURN])
-
- If you are installing PRL from a distribution diskette, simply place the
- installation diskette in an available floppy disk drive, which will usually
- be either "A" or "B". Then, from any DOS prompt, type A:INSTALL (or
- B:INSTALL, as appropriate), and press [ENTER].
-
- You will be presented with a menu showing 3 different installation
- sources (1 floppy disk, 2 floppy disks, or install from hard drive). Select
- the appropriate installation source by using the up/down arrow keys to
- highlight the proper selection, and press [ENTER].
-
- This program must be installed in a hard disk drive, and there must be at
- least 2Mb of free disk space available.
